Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") before using the Asteroid Audiobook Player application ("App").
1. Acceptance
By installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. Intended use
Asteroid is designed to organize and play audio files you already own or control—such as DRM-free purchases, audiobook CDs, and public-domain recordings. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to listen to the content you add.
When you connect Google Drive or use public metadata services (Open Library, Google Books), the App acts as a client on your behalf. You are responsible for complying with those services' terms and any rights required to access your files and metadata.
3. Disclaimer of warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE AUTHORS DISCLAIM LIABILITY FOR DAMAGES ARISING FROM USE OF THE APP.
4. Third-party services
The App depends on third-party services (Google Drive, Open Library, Google Books, Google Play). We do not guarantee their availability, speed, accuracy, or continued integration. Features that rely on external APIs may change, slow down, or stop working without notice.
5. Tip jar and Supporter Status
Optional contributions through the in-app tip jar are processed by Google Play Billing.
- Contributions are voluntary one-time tips, not subscriptions.
- Supporter Status unlocks extended convenience features described in the app.
- Your first 90 days include full functionality so you can evaluate the app before contributing.
- Refunds are handled under Google Play's standard refund policies.
- On another device, use Restore Supporter Status in Settings (same Google account).
6. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
